Dear Sir.
I enclose herewith a letter recd. yesterday from Ezra A Johnson, whom Col. Corson sent to your care, some ten days [[?]]- As there seems to be some misunderstanding in the matter, I will explain, that Mr Johnson was [[underlined]] not sent [[/underlined]] by the "Penna. Freedmens' Assc." [[underlined]] that is does not assume to pay his salary or any portion of it. [[/underlined]] Nor any [[underlined]] responsibility in regards to him whatever - [[/underlined]] The [[underlined]] resources [[/underlined]] of the Association does not warrant the Comm. or the Board in increasing their liabilities at present - and they have not sufficient information in regard to Mr. J. to warrant them in appointing him if their funds was in a better state.
