Christmas eve, and prepared my scholars, went to Baltimore and purchased my confectionary accordingly.

One of the trustees who had set the Monday following to hold one, a festival, when the trustees meet thursday evening the 24th locked the school house door & carried away the key.  When the scholars assembled the next day for school none could get in & had to stand around in the cold nearly half of the day.

Then again all the books I order from Cushings & Bailey as you know are deducted from my salary:  This same trustee publicly and falsely said, I got the books from the proceeds of the exhibition and then sold them to the pupils.

No I have no disposition to have my name so slandered, and I know I have put forth my utmost endeavors since I have been here to further the interests of the people here.  I trust you will look upon my
