I having been there nearly a month, in ^[[insert]] the [[/insert]] family I hated to refuse her, so I taken her up behind me, & delivered up into the hands of her friends, & remained there myself a short time, then started for L. Town, when I reached Capt AA. Lawrence's I learned that ^[[insert]] the meeting [[/insert]] was put off until the next night. I then returned to this place because it was the only one, I could have my horse taken care of after leaving the Capt. & the Capt. having no place to lodge me alnight, & the teacher Miss Gould had before recommended these people ^[[insert]] to [[/insert]] me, saying that they were, among the most highly respected around there, which they were. A short time after I got there I learned that they were all going to a neighbor's house to a party, & ^[[insert]] one [[/insert]] their class, so invitted me to go, of course I did not like to keep them from enjoyment, as so I consented to go. & walked with the same lady that I brought there that day & also returned with her & the family, that night. The next day I was to go to L. Town, to be there at seven o'clock P.M. at which time the meeting ^[[insert]] was to [[/insert]] take place.
