States in reply to letter of 17th inst., that any position as teacher offered him would be thankfully accepted:  that he learned to read and write while a slave:  that since 1863 he has been at the North educating himself for the purpose of teaching among the freedmen.  Refers to the Faculty of Lincoln University for testimonials.
