Dear Sir,
Through the courtesy of Mr. Brooke, I read your letter to him of Saturday last, but regret that we have not seen you to day.  Besides I am vain enough to think I should be quite proud to have you see my school in its present condition. It now, (day and evening school,) numbers 90 pupils. Their progress truly remarkable; and having taught as Principal of some very large schools and institutions, I am happy to say, that I have never seen a school of a similar or even a less numbers so easily governed,  You will see that they are disciplined as equally as a regiment of soldiers.
If you come this week or the first if next, I shall not have the pleasure of greeting you, as I go by invitation to lecture the last of the week and preach at Flint Mich.  I shall leave the school, during the few days that I am absent in the charge of my friend Mr. Charles S. Lewis who is thoroughly aquain=
