Rev. John Kimball,
Dear Sir,
I returned from Michigan ^[[day before]] yesterday and find the school has done well under the care of Mr Lewis, in my absence.
I have now 95 pupils in attendance; and I am sure that in deportment and literacy progress they compare favorablly with any other school either white or colored.
But 95 pupils, as you well know, is quite too many for one teacher; and I trust that you will immediately commission Mr. Lewis with a similar salary
