The meeting of the Board of Regents was held in the Regents' Room of the Smithsonian Institution Building and was called to order by the Chancellor at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 1983. Present were:

Representative Silvio O. Conte
Representative Norman Y. Mineta
David C. Acheson
William G. Bowen

Carlisle H. Humelsine
S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary

The following Regents were unable to attend because of prior commitments:
Senator Goldwater, Mrs. Armstrong, and Messrs. Austin, Boland and Burden.
