[[underlined]] Report on Gifts to the Smithsonian [[/underlined]]

In response to a suggestion at the Board's Executive Committee meeting on January 5, 1983, the following report on the level and composition of contributions to the Institution over the past four years was presented by Mr. Hohenlohe. He pointed out that gifts received during this period (exclusive of those for the Quadrange) more than doubled, increasing from $2.5 million to $5.5 million. While steady growth was experienced in restricted gifts over the period, unrestricted gifts have benefitted from a large rise in donors under the National Associates Contributing Membership Program, with income rising dramatically from $700,000 to over $2 million.
