Presidents Address

My. dear friends and. members of the Rappahanock Indian Assn I am glad today to come before you in our first annual celebration since the founding of our tribe in 1920 - 

This tribe has been lost to the memory of .3. generation and only .such. scientific men as. would from time to time come through this part. of. Va would give the younger Generation a little information as to there ancestors, still history pointed us out. that there was, 30 tribes of Indians living along the the tidewater sections of Va and under King powatans Reign a investigation showed that near [[?]] Va was and original tribe called the Rappahanock which bears in part. the name of the tribe of the abrignies of the assn that controlls our name

Dear friend we who has been living since our Land went. into the posesion of our White Neightbor by. the Signing of a treaty 250 years ago. Lost. our inheritance and from that time until the present we have not. been classified as a race being in that position we have been forced to attend Schools designated for colored children and classified the same and when the constitution of the [[strikethrough]] united [[/strikethrough]] Va was amended they taken our political and civil right away the same as the [[elerite?]] on the dominant side now. Dear friends today we are here to enjoy. the celebration in [[?]] may. and not. to cause any bad feeling amongst. no race of peoples, we are glad of the progress of the colored man and glad that the caucasion race has developed but we want them to carry their minds back to 1607. when the Indian was found on the Shores of America and controled it and fought for it with as ther home soil then willing given into there posesion only what few Remains to be paid back [[strikethrough]] by [[/strikethrough]] the Hospitality by use them as a dominant Race
