[[underlined]] Resolution of Appreciation from the Board of Trustees of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden [[/underlined]]

The Secretary reported that the Board of Trustees of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at their spring 1983 meeting had resolved to express their appreciation to the Regents for establishing the Institution's major acquisitions fund. He noted that Senator Moynihan, Chairman of that Board, had played a significant role in its adoption. The resolution, handsomely printed in calligraphy and framed, was displayed for the Regents, who received it with gratitude. The Trustees' resolution said:

WHEREAS the Board of Trustees of the Joseph H. Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is deeply appreciative of the action taken by the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution in extending its Collections Acquisitions Program for an additional five-year period to enable the Museum to acquire important works of art that will add significantly to the quality and comprehensiveness of its collection and which would otherwise be beyond its available means to acquire; be it

RESOLVED that the Board hereby expresses its gratitude to the Board of Regents for its establishment and extension of this Program and for its continuing encouragement of the Museum's effort to deepen and strengthen its collection.

[[underlined]] Report of the Executive Committee [[/underlined]]

Mr. Humelsine reported that the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents met at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 1983, in the Ladies Dining Room of the Supreme Court, beginning its meeting in executive session. Present were:
