Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your instructions of Oct. 20th. 1885, relating to the operations of the Department of Reptiles under my charge, and respectfully report as follows: 
"1st. Important additions during the half year, commencing Jan. 1st 1885."

A collection from Cozumel, collected by the naturalist of the U.S.F.C. Steamer" Albatross," containing seventeen specimens. These were sent to Prof.E.D.Cope, by direction of Prof. Baird. A collection from the N.W Coast of Mexico, from Alphonso Forrer, containing twenty-four specimens. A collection from Mr. G.H.Ragsdale of Texas, containing fifteen specimens. Dr. George W. Nelson sent a good collection from Panama, which was also sent to Prof. E. D. Cope. Mr Charles R. Orcutt forwarded an excellent collection from San Diego, California.

Some very fine turtles, of little to almost unknown species, were sent by Mr. G. Kohn, from Mobile, Alabama. A collection was also received from Mr. C. C. Nutting, Pilot Town, Florida. Specimens were also received from the following: Wm. Palmer, Arlington, VA. H.W Turner, Nevada. Fletcher M. Noe, Minnosota. HerbertB. Creel, Ripley Landing, W.Va. Harry Simpson, Analostan Island, D.C. O.P.Hay, Indiana. H.H.Hodge, Clark County,ILL.
