Mr. John Kimbel

Dear Sir

I promised to try & get some of the coloured people from this section to Come up & see you I have seen several & sent word to all those who are most interested to come up & see you as you wanted to start the school immediately, they said they would come but I doubt very much whether they will or not.

The Rebbels from this county in the Legislature in annapolis have charged me before Gov. Swan with being the negroes friend and building a school house for them & taking them out of [[jail?]] & making complaint when other Magistrats would not attend the Rights of the negro & I do not know what else & the [[?]] turned me out & put a man in my  place whom I have herd frequently say swan ought to be hung, There is not one man in our couty in office who has ever been a union man & I think it is the case all over the state under
