Learning of these, I [[inserted]]have [[/inserted]]sent a statement of facts to the bishop, endorsed by the presiding elder here, who is the only man who has the courage to face the music on the subject of freedmen's schools. This has no other importance than that Fisher as a tool of the rebels and negro haters generally, working constantly on a portion of a good union graded school. This has been my constant aim, but I have not been able to accomplish it yet. My school, and that of Mrs. Sharp, are the only ones that have been of the slightest use this winter. It now numbers over sixty scholars, made up of all grades. Shall probably have many more, in the new school building, since some will not send to the present building, [[inserted]] it being [[/inserted]] the place of worship for the Baptists.

For the past four weeks, I have been laboring in the nightly meetings, particularly [[inserted]]among the [[/inserted]]Baptists, where the way was more open, and with good results. There has been a genuine "revival" here, especially among the best portion of the young men and women who have been under
