Supt of Schols
Washington, D.C.

Dear Sir
I have received a letter from Mr Butler stating that they are ready for a teacher at Helen's Creek School. The house will be finished this week. The teacher ought to go from Baltimore via boat to Solomon's Island and enquire there for Capt Brook's house. If the bay is closed then he had better go via stage from Washington to Marlboro, and get the colored people to carry him from there over to Prince Frederick, where Butler will make some arrangement to have him taken to the school. Helen Creek School is nearly at the lower end of Calvert Co. It cost $17 each to send the other teachers to Prince Frederick and would cost more than double that to send
