W.L. VanDerlip Superintendant of Education

Dear Sir
The scholars of this school taught by Miss Haverland are getting along verry well, and I think she is doing a good part by them They are advancing rapitly and the Catholic people have been trying to break the school up but as they find that they cannot do it they now begin to send their children back to this school. the priest and his people have built a school House near the Catholic Church but Cannot get a Catholic teacher I hope you will not send them one if they apply to you for one as they have done all they could to break up our school there And now our school [[strikethrough]] are [[/strikethrough]] is increasing it will be better only to have one here at this time There have been considerable dificulty with Mr. Haverland and those Catholicts about having Balls and shindiggs in the school House I did not see Mr Haverland as he was in Baltimore at this time But I held a meeting at night and told the people that it was posittively against the wishes of the Bureau to hold Balls or dancing parties in the school House And told the trustees not to let it be done anymore No of scholars 43 about 35 average attendance House finished in tolerable good condition

Verry Respectfully &c
