Head of Sassafras May 1st 1870 To Superintendent of Education washington - d.C. dear Sir we the colored people of this part Kent County M.d. are very much interest about Educating our pupils we are under the necessity aplying to you the Superintendent of Education for aid we have been caring on our School by the aid of the Baltimore association alas our teacher was taken sick the first of march and the Baltimore association will not aid [[insert]] us [[/insert]] any more we are in session again, but will [[insert]] be [[/insert]] not able to keep it going without aid
