Sir: I am directed to inform you that a bill for lumber incurred in Oct and Nov. 1866 was yesterday presented at these Head Quarters for approval and payment; and to request that you will collect and forward as soon as possible, all outstanding bills against this Bureau, contracted by you.

The Assistant Commissioner also directs that hereafter you will make application to these Head Quarters for any lumber or other material required for school buildings, stating the specific object to which it is to be applied, and the probable cost.
