Dear friend,
I have known Rev. [?]. Eddy for several years , first as a student in the Preparatory School of Antioch College, in 1855-6, where he earned the respect and interest of the President, [?]. Mann. 
Since that time, during his residence in this city, I have continued his acquaintance, and I have always regarded him with his respects, as an indefatigable student, an earnest workers, and a zealous Christian Philanthropist and Educator.
Whatever he is appointed as, I am sure he will do it with his might. [?], fidelity, sincerity, zeal, self-sacrifice are prominently marked in his character. [?] ad a [?] which you can give him, [?]
