Rev. and Dear Sir:

I respectfully offer an application, for the position of teacher in one of the Freedmen's Schools in Washington or the District of Columbia.

I am twenty six years of age a graduate of the High and Classical School of this my native city, and am permitted to apply for character etc to some of its most prominent and worthy citizens. also my late Preceptor Jacob Batchelder Esq Int. Rev. Officer Lynn Mass.
