[[underline]] Point Pleasant. - [[/underline]] The school house at this point is now nearly up, I suppose. Three weeks ago I was there, when it was going forward. The house was contracted ^[[insert]] for [[/insert]] for $ 540, and to be 32 ft. by 22 ft. Here about Charleston & above, it costs more to build a house of the same size, and some of the materials comes from Gallipolis & Point Pleasant.

[[underline]] Other points. [[/underline]]

I hope to report further progress at other points, either this autumn or in the early spring. My chief hope lies in the expectation of a change in the school-law, in relation to the distribution of the building fund between the white & colored children. The member of the next legislature, from this place, has been bold & influential in former legislatures, in advocating the rights of the freedmen, and, I am satisfied, will move or advocate so just a measure as the one proposed. He is a personal friend of mine, & I doubt not will take hold of the matter.
