on account of the excellent preparation, the species represented and the notes accompanying each specimen. By means of the latter the curator was enabled to restore [[underlined]] Sceloporus magister [[/underline]] of Hallowell, a species long lost and overlooked on account of its occurrence in the same locality with [[underlined]] S. clarkii [[/underline]], which it closely resembles, and with which it has been hitherto confounded. The fine series of both collected by Mr. Jouy prove their distinctness beyond a doubt, and are in themselves alone [[strikethrough]] alone [[/strikethrough]] almost sufficient returns for the sending out of a special collector.
