If the progress of the department be measured by the number of specimens received and entered upon the record books, the activity of the past year has been unprecedented, no less than [[checkmark]] 2302 specimens having been catalogued [[checkmark]].  A glance at the record book will show that at the same time the scientific value of the collections has not fallen behind those of previous years.
