Facilities for studying the collections have been extended & several gentlemen not connected with the museum, viz Dr. O. P. Hay, finishing his work on the Indiana reptiles, and Prof. E. D. Cope, who, among other subjects studied, made extended anatomical researches for his new ophiological system.

Before closing I wish to add some remarks in regard to several of the principal accessions received during the year.

The bulk of the Death Valley Expedition was entered during the present year. Concerning the value and extent of the material added to our museum it is sufficient to refer to my annual report
