The second group comprized thirty-three casts and mounted specimens of different types of land and fresh water turtles inhabiting the United States, including gophers, box tortoises, terrapins, mud turtles, softshelled turtles, etc., the accessories, as in the snake group, illustrating in a general way only their natural surroundings, water and sandy beaches consequently predominating.

The third group showed a fine yellow boa, from Jamaica, in the act of climbing the branches of a tree, typifying the nonvenomous snakes in contrast to the group of poisonous ones.
