--[[underlined]]Nonappropriated Trust Funds:[[/underlined]] Operating results for the first two months of the fiscal year are not sufficient to be indicative of annual performance. Budget estimates have been adjusted, however, to reflect the creation of the Directorate of International Activities. This bureau will serve as the coordinator of international activities at the Institution, most particularly the International Center in the Quadrangle. restricted income and expenses associated with the International Center have also been adjusted to reflect substantially lower estimates of gift and endowment support.

Fund raising efforts for the Festival of India have been unsuccessful to date. Action has been taken as approved by the Regents at their September meeting to make available necessary funding from Smithsonian Unrestricted Funds. Approximately $730,000 has been provided from funds reserved at the end of fiscal year 1984 for ancillary costs (namely performers and catalogue) of the [[underlined]]Aditi[[/underlined]] exhibition, for the Folklife Festival presentation on India, and for a symposium focussing on the intellectual policy implications of the dramatic cultural change now sweeping India. funding has been provided from the Special Exhibitions Program for the [[underlined]]Golden Eye[[/underlined]] exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum and the [[underline]]Aditi[[/underline]] exhibition in the Evans Gallery. Original estimates for the [[underlined]]Aditi[[/underlined]] exhibition have increased from $345,000 to $545,000 as the final design has taken shape. Secretary Adams has approved and additional $200,000 for the design and installation; the budgeted transfer from unrestricted trust funds to the Special Exhibitions Program will be increased by a like amount.
