The Chancellor and the Regents were hosts to a dinner in honor of Secretary and Mrs. Adams on the preceding evening, January 27, 1985, at the Supreme Court. After dinner the Chancellor officially welcomed the guests, toasted the President of the United States, and introduced Vice President Bush. The Vice President spoke briefly about Mr. and Mrs. Adams and offered a toast in their honor, Mr. Adams thanked the Vice President, the Chancellor, and the Regents and offered extemporaneous remarks about his impressions of the nation's capital and the extent to which the efficiency of official Washington is enhanced by less formal relationships and gatherings such as the Regents' dinner.
