[[underlined]]Cooper-Hewitt Advisory Council[[/underlined]]

The following motion was approved:

VOTED that the Board of Regents reappoints to the Council of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, retroactive to May 1984 and expiring May 31, 1987, Mrs. Rosemary Corroon, Mrs. Joanne duPont, Mr. Harmon Goldstone, Mr. August Heckscher, Mrs. Karen Johnson Boyd, Mr. Russell Lynes, Mr. Kenneth Miller, Mrs. Amanda Burden, Mr. Arthur Ross, Mr. Robert Sarnoff, and Mrs. Marietta Tree.

[[underlined]]Smithsonian Council Meeting[[/underlined]]

The Secretary mentioned that the Smithsonian Council will be holding its annual meeting at the Institution October 18-20 and he invited the Regents to attend.  On Friday, October 17, the Council will spend the day at the Rock Creek Park facilities of the Zoo and focus its review on the Zoo's scientific research and related public programs.  On Saturday, October 19, the Council will meet in the National Museum of Natural History and address the educational role and responsibilities of the Smithsonian with two areas of emphasis: pre-college education and public understanding of major environmental and social issues.  The Council's proceedings will conclude with an executive session on Sunday, October 20, when it will draft its report to the Secretary.
