Burger The Chief Justice of the United States Chancellor, Smithsonian Institution Washington, D.C. 20543 Dear Mr. Chancellor: Your Regents' Personnel Committee, consisting of the undersigned has carefully reviewed the [[underlined]] Confidential Statement of Employment and Financial Interests, [[/underlined]] fully filled out and submitted by each of the following employees: Robert McC. Adams Dean W. Anderson John F. Jameson David Challinor Ralph C. Rinzler John E. Reinhardt William N. Richards James McK. Symington Peter G. Powers Ann R. Leven James M. Hobbins Margaret Gaynor Hird As a result of our careful review of these statements as submitted and following our discussion of them in several telephone conversations, we have unanimously decided that there is no conflict of interest whatsoever involved and that no action of any kind concerning conflict of interest need be taken with regard to any of these employees. The Committee has also received and discussed a report of the General Counsel/Ethics Counselor entitled "Submission and review of Forms SI-1085, 'Confidential Statement of Employment and Financial Interests,' for Calendar Year 1984." From the report the Committee has unanimously agreed that the financial reporting procedures for those key staff who must report have functioned in accordance with established
