My dear Mr. Trevor:

Please forgive my delay in answering your letter of October 27th.

Yes, I know Mrs. A. T. Hert very well. I do not know, however, whether or not she is a collector of works of art. She is reputed to be a woman of large fortune and that this is true would seem to be shown by the fact that she has not only a city house and a handsome country estate here but also a handsome estate on Mackinac Island and a home in Washington, D. C., where she has been very prominent in Republican politics for some years, being, I believe, the head of the Women's Republican Organization for the whole country. She is a woman of intelligence and taste and I am sure would be interested in the sort of things that you have. Whether or not she would be in the market for anything of this kind at this time I do not know but it is true that she is just completing a large addition to her country house here which I understand she is furnishing with great elegance.

I would, of course, prefer that this communication be treated as more or less confidential.

I expect to be in Louisville all winter.

Yours very truly,
