Dear Mrs. Alsop,

What a delightful and charming attention you have in presenting me with your recent book, "To Marietta, Letters from Paris".

However the mail service has frustrated your exquisite gesture for we are about to leave for the Caribbean, without your precious book.

Allow me never-the-less to express my deep appreciation and if I miss the enjoyment of reading it on the Antigua beaches, I do know that its company will be a source of pleasure when I return.

In the meantime, may I convey my very best wishes for Christmas and for a Happy New Year.

With renewed appreciation,

Yours,

Germain Seligman
