Silk-Woven Tapestry Panel
XVII Century

David and Goliath.  Centered with a circular medallion portraying the figure David armed with  sling, standing before Goliath bearing spear and shield, with ranks of spearmen behind. Surrounded by a beautiful wreath of tulips, roses, chrysanthemums, etc., in pinks, tans, and ivory, with green leafage, in a deep blue ground. Very finely woven, of silk.

XVII Century

David and Saul.  Within a circular medallion, a crowned and turbaned figure of King Saul, with his army of spearmen, turning away from the kneeling figure of David, who holds out the sling with which he will kill Goliath. Within a border of red and yellow tulips and roses, and white violets with green leafage, in a blue-black ground. Finely woven, of silk.

Height, 22 1/2; length, 23 inches
