My dear Mrs. Armour:

In view of the interest you have shown in drawings, I am taking the liberty of sending you herein, a photograph of an extremely important drawing by [[underlined]] INGRES [[/underlined]], which we have just purchased.

It represents the Countess de Marcellus, who was the daughter of Count de Forbin You will see from the photograph that it bears the signature of Ingres in the lower right corner, and you will realize its importance as regards size, as it measures 15-3/4" x 12-1/2". It has been in several celebrated French Collections, and is really of supreme quality. The price is $5,800.

Should you be interested, I would gladly send the original drawing to you to see, and I don't hesitate to recommend it most highly.

With this drawing we bought some by other artists of the Eighteenth Century, of the English School, as well as a group of drawings by artists of the 19th. Century, including -

Chasseriau
Daumier
Degas
Delacroix, and
Manet.

I would gladly send you further data or photographs of some of the latter if you so wish, and as I may go to Chicago later in the season, even take some of the originals along with me.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Believe me to be,
Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligmann)
