November 6th., 1945.

Dear Mrs. Shaw:

Your letter of November 2nd., about the PISSARRO show you are planning, only reached me yesterday.

I am sorry to have to tell you that I have no Pissarros at all at the present time, and thus will be unable to cooperate in your undertaking, as much as I would like to. I particularly care for early Pissarros, and they, unfortunately, have become extremely rare and difficult to obtain.

I surmise that you were under the impression that I owned a painting by this artist, from the Wildenstein catalogue, where my firm's name appears as one of the lenders, but my loan was a SEURAT painting, Wildenstein having included "The Influences" on, and of, Pissarro.

I feel certain that, like all other exhibitions you have organized, this one will be a great success, and am certainly disappointed not to be able to participate.

With all good wishes,

Sincerely yours,

Mrs. Alfred P. Shaw,
