As usual, the material needs of the Council were sensitively and efficiently addressed by Mike Young and his staff, and it was a special pleasure to enjoy dinner in the splendidly restored Renwick Gallery. We missed your presence there, although Tom Freudenheim gracefully represented the Institution. The active part you took in our discussions was appreciated by Council members, who found your remarks invariably to be clarifying, informative, and stimulating. We look forward to a continuation of this close collaboration.

It remains only to thank all at the Smithsonian for their accustomed hospitality. It was in many ways a memorable meeting for the Council, and we hope it proves to be a productive one for the Smithsonian as a whole.

Sincerely yours,
