At this time, the Board of Regents is requested to approve the following individuals for terms expiring December 31, 1990: for reappointment, Robert F. Thompson, art historian, African Art, Yale University, and Walter E. Washington, former Mayor, District of Columbia; for new appointment, Charles B. Benenson, collector and businessman, New York City; Congressman John Conyers, Jr., Michigan; and Mrs. Helen Kuhn, collector, lender and donor, Los Angeles. In addition, the unexpected death of Commissioner Gustave Schindler, whose term expires December 31, 1989, has left a vacancy which the Commission proposed to fill with James L. Hudson, attorney, Washington, D.C. Biographical sketches on the new Commissioners follow.
