Physical Accessibility for Disabled Persons

The ODC, in cooperation with the OEO, ensures that required accessibility standards are met in constructing, altering, and modifying Smithsonian facilities. The comprehensive accessibility survey conducted in 1975 is the basis for most of the architectural modifications now underway. The removal of any existing physical barriers is undertaken as a part of the budgetary process.
