Additionally, the Studio received Grammy, Golden Globe, and Academy Award recognition for many of its music entries. Most recently he served as executive producer of the Wonderful World of Disney's production of Annie, as well as a producer with the television production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, which was nominated for seven Emmy Awards.

DISNEY THEATRICALS, a unit of the Buena Vista Theatrical Group, was formed in 1993 and operates under the direction of Peter Schneider and Thomas Schumacher. Disney Theatricals' inaugural production, Beauty and the Beast, is now in its seventh year on Broadway and can also be seen in Stuttgart, Madrid, and touring throughout North America. In May 1997, The Walt Disney Company completed restoration of the New Amsterdam Theatre on 42nd Street, and, in November of the same year, Disney's The Lion King opened at this historic theater. The Broadway production of The Lion King received six 1998 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. The Lion King can also be seen on stage in Toyko, Osaka, London, Toronto and Los Angeles (October 2000). Disney's musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame is currently playing in Berlin. In addition to Disney Theatricals, the Buena Vista Theatrical Group also includes Hyperion Theatricals. Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, which opened on Broadway in March 2000, is the first show to be produced under the Hyperion banner.
