Mr. Brittan has also written many English lyrics to foreign songs ... among these being the Israeli hit Bashana Haba'ah (Any Time of the Year), which has been recorded by artists all over the world.  He is very proud of being elected by his fellow writers to serve as council member in the American Guild of Authors and Composers.  Mr. Brittan lives in Manhattan with his wife Donna, daughter Georgia, two cats, and dog ... and maybe a mouse.  

JUDD WOLDIN (Composer)  Tony nominee and 1975 Grammy winner for "Best Score" entered Black Mountain College intending to study architecture and finished as a composition student of Henrich Jalowetz.  His works include the film scores to Carson Davidson's Railway with a Heart of Gold and Poppycock (American entries in the international festivals at Venice and Edinburgh) and children's music for Lionel Hampton's Japanese tour (recorded as Hamp in Japan).  While performing with Don Elliott's Jazz Group, he wrote the dance music for the Elliott-Costigan musical The Beast in Me based on Thurber's Fables for Our Time.  This led to a long association with Lehman Engel's BMI Workshop and work in several musicals including Anthony Newley's The Roar of the Greasepaint--The Smell of the Crowd, and the Pearl Bailey company of Hello, Dolly!.  A jazz enthusiast he was searching for a theatre vehicle for this idiom when Dr. Marion Powell suggested the work of Lorraine Hansberry.

DONALD McKAYLE (Director-Choreographer), nominated for Tony Awards as both "Best Director" and "Best Choreographer" of 1974, has created dance works which have become classics: Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder, Games, and District Storyville. He has received many honors including the coveted Capezio Award.  On Broadway, he choreographed Golden Boy, A Time for Singing and I'm Solomon.  Off-Broadway he directed Trumpets of the Lord, in London, Black New World; and, on the continent, Free and Easy.  His television credits include The New Bill Cosby Show, The Annual Oscar Awards (1971) The Grammy Awards (1973), Amahl and the Night Visitors, Harry Belafonte's The Strolling Twenties, The Leslie Uggams Show, and specials for Danny Thomas, Dick Van Dyke, and Diana Ross. In films Mr. McKayle choreographed The Great White Hope and for Walt Disney Bedknobs and Broomsticks.  His ballets have been performed around the world by the Harkness Ballet, the Batsheva Dance Company of Israel, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and the Inner City Repertory Dance Company, founded by Mr. McKayle.
ROBERT U. TAYLOR (Set Designer) was a set designer at the Arena Stage (Washington, D.C.).  In New York, he received the Drama Desk Award, and the Critics Circle Maharam Award for Lady Day and The Beggar's Opera at the Chelsea Theater Center.  Off Broadway he designed Saved and most recently, Sisters of Mercy.  Mr. Taylor received an M.A. from the Yale School of Drama.
BERNARD JOHNSON (Costume Designer) designed the Broadway production of Don't Play Us Cheap and Aint' Supposed To Die A Natural Death.  He costumed the films Willie Dynamite and Don't Play Us Cheap.  He began his designing career for the New York Negro Ballet, where he was a principal dancer.  he has designed Intermezzo for the Capitol Ballet, seven ballets for the Dance Theater of Harlem, two jazz ballets for the N.Y. City Ballet, Olympics for the Joffrey Ballet.  On TV he costumed the Bill Cosby Special To All My Friends on Shore.  He designs personally for Melba Moore, Lena Horne, Diana Ross and Mr. Merv Griffin among others.
WILLIAM MINTZER (Lighting Designer) has designed some 100 productions for theatre, opera, ballet and modern dance principally at the Hartford Stage Company, Chelsea Theatre Center, American Place Theatre, Chicago's Goodman Theatre, Seattle and Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Washington's Arena Stage and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  Most recently he designed Sunset for Chelsea and the highly acclaimed production of The Beggar's Opera.
MARGARET HARRIS (Musical Director and Conductor) made her piano debut at age three and was featured on radio, TV, newspapers, magazines and newsreels through the world. A summa cum laude graduate of the Juilliard School, Ms. Harris is a composer and conductor.  Her Second Piano Concerto has been featured by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and will be performed in New York in May. She toured Europe as Conductor of Donald McKayle's Black New World ballet and has served as Musical Director of the Negro Ensemble Company and the New York Shakespeare Festival.  Ms. Harris was Musical Director and Conductor of Hair and Two Gentlemen of Verona and is the first black woman to have conducted six major American orchestras.  She has arranged and conducted for TV and will be guest conductor at Wolf Trap and Detroit Symphony the summer.  Ms. Harris is a member of the National Endowment of the Arts.
HOWARD ROBERTS (Vocal Arranger) was Raisin's Original Musical Director and Conductor in its first year and a half on Broadway and is currently Musical Director for the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. His many credits as Musical
