Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and abandoned lands for Robeson Co. Aug 19th 1865

This indenture made and enter into this 19th day of August 1865 between W. P. Moore of the County of Robeson of the one part, and Patrick Barnes, Isaac Moore, Ben Barnes, Wesley Moore, Elias Moore, Thomas Moore, William Moore, Donald Barnes and their respective families Freedmen of Robeson Co. of the other part witnesseth that the said W. P. Moore agrees and covenants to divide all the corn crop now growing in his plantations with the above mentioned Freedmen, in the following proportion First one third of the growing crop on the Barnes plantation is to be retained for the rent of said plantation which is due by the said W. P. Moore to the heirs of the Barnes estate, then the other 2/3rds to be equally divided between himself and thee above mentioned Freedmen, in proportion to their respective ages and industry. Then after deducting seventy five bushels of corn for each team employed and fifty bushels for wear and tare of farming implements on both the Barnes and his own plantation, then the above Freedmen are to receive one half of the remainder of said corn in proportion to their respective ages ability to work and industry.
