Office Bureau of Refugees, freedmen and abandoned lands for Robeson Co.
Lumberton NC  Sept 16th 1865

This indenture made and entered into on the 16th day of Sept 1865 between Jane McArthur of Robeson, of the one part, and the undersigned Freed Laborers of the other part, witnesseth that the said Frd laborers have agreed to work for the said Mrs McArthur from the 27th day of April 1865 till the 1st day of Jany 1866, — to do all kinds of labor common to the farms of the County, to work ten hours per day, to do their work faithfully and to be respectful in their deportment. They the said Laborers to receive one third of the corn crop now growing. they are also to receive the usual rations of food clothing and ordinary medical attendance
