This indenture made and entered into this 15th day of January, 1867, between William Rankin of the county + State aforesaid of the first part, and the undersigned freed laborers of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said William Rankin does promise and agree to furnish the said freed laborers with comfortable quarters and board for the time they continue to work for him. And he further agrees to pay each the sum of twelve dollars per month at the end of each month.

And the undersigned freed laborers each agree to work for the said William Rankin from January 16th 1867 until August 1st 1867, and to do all kinds of labor which he may require.
