dinner I have been to all summer just because there was such a perfect understanding between us.  I was so happy!  We made an agreement, which came about in this way.
I was telling him what a good time I had been having and he said:
"You will always have a good time because even when your looks gives out you will still be a great heiress".
No one else would have said it - I was delighted.
"I am glad you are so frank," I said looking

"I don't think I ever need say things to you I do not mean", he answered
"No, exactly", I said.
"What is the [[?]] of having old friends if they do not say what they mean".
"I will always tell you the truth", he said.
"Will you really?  Always? Then if I ever want to ask you anything you will tell me exactly what your opinion is?"
"Yes.  Then that is an agreement; and if I don't want to tell you I will say so".
"Agreed".
