Dear "Doc";- I saw in the Nashville paper that you were wounded but did ^ [[insertion]] not [[/insertion]] know for [[underline]] sure [[/underline]] it was [[underline]] you [[/underline]], until I heard from your father, rather my son wrote to find out for me had never known you as anything but "Doc." I am so sorry to hear of your being wounded and hope you are improving rapidly. Herbert was badly gassed on March 11th, and had a sick leave for nearly two months and then I do not know
