Jordan Wallauer, who is apparently Renato Leal's 2nd in command. He locks Jim & I into Claudio's office & starts grilling me about Coimbra-
How successful is his operation; what are his inventory data like. I try to be honest but to suggest that not all problems with CPRJ are Coimbra's- that there are financial problems, etc. He says that IBDF had given Coimbra (FEEMA) $2000 - $3000 last year which was never spent & had to be returned to the gov't.

Jordan says that he is a zoo vet & thinks that there are serious nutritional problems w/ Coimbra's colony. I indicate that they can't get their vet their every day etc etc. Jordan remains, however, very hostile towards Coimbra & CPRJ & Jim supports that view in attitude.

Sounds like Jordan wants to muscle Coimbra & altho I agree with everything he says, I am concerned about his motives. Jim says he believes that Jordan cares @ conservation & simply wants the best for the animals.

He is planning to set up 15-20 L. chrysomelas at São Paulo Zoo & apparently the Zoo has agreed to build & maintain the animals as suggested in the L. r. rosalia management plan. And Jordan wants to give the Sao Paulo zoo the money that he had given to CPRJ.

The plot thickened dramatically, as I found out later, and I do not understand what Jordan did. Apparently the previous day he had visited Beraut & asked whether Beraut would take another 5 [[underlined]] L. rosalia [[/underlined]] that were at CPRJ and were in poor condition.
