Persons discovering the fire will then secure the nearest fire extinguisher and attempt to bring fire under control.
[[underline]] b. [[/underline]] If the report is made by telephone to the switchboard operator, he will immediately notify the Fire Station by telephone. If the Fire Station is first notified, the switchboard operator will be notified and he will then notify the Fire Marshal and Officer of the Day in the order named. The alarm siren will not be sounded unless the Fire Marshal, Fire Chief, Officer of the Day, or Assistant fire Chief, after checking the fire, calls the Guard House and directs that the General Alarm be given. The Sergeant of the Guard, after sounding the General Alarm, will notify the Switchboard operator.
