On all of their new missions so far with the 15th Strategic Air Force, flying Thunderbolts, the group fliers have been led by Colonel Davis.


During their combat mission Friday, escorting 200 or more bombers on the first leg to the Munich area in the heart of industrial Germany, the airmen spotted twenty or more Messerschmitt 109's, and they went into action.


Lt. Funderburg was flying as Colonel Davis' wingman on the show,.
