HEADQUARTERS, ARMY AIR BASE
Godman Field, Ft. Knox, Kentucky
Office of the Base Commander

27 September 1945

Greetings to all Members of this Command:

I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for the high calibre of service rendered by you since I have had the honor to command Godman Field.

The short time I have been here has been a difficult period for all of us. We have prepared intensively for war and have seen the end of the war. We are now experiencing the difficult transition from war to peace.

I am proud to be able to say that in spite of these difficult times, there has been a steady and sharp rise in the efficiency of all activities of this field. In spite of the many uncertainties in almost everyone's mind, morale is at high pitch. In less than three short months a tradition has been born that will serve all of us in good stead; whether we choose to remain in the service or whether we return to civilian ranks.

To those of you who are leaving the Army, I wish you every success in whatever undertaking you may pursue. For those who elect to remain, may you carry on in the best traditions of our Armed Forces.
