HISTORY OF THE PLANNING BOARD

The aim of the Planning Board can be found in the old saying "All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl." For months we had been cognizant of the need for more social activities among ourselves. The business meeting offered little opportunity for the members to know and enjoy each other's company. The Planning Board seemed to be a solution to our problem. The title "Planning Board" might be confusing to some. It is simply those ladies who act as hostesses, more or less, for their particular monthly entertainment. Members who constitute a "Board" are chosen alphabetically from the roll. And so the first Board was appointed to entertain us in August 1948. They planned a picnic to which all wives, their families, and visiting guests were invited. It was an overwhelming success. During the months that followed each "Board" has spent time trying to make its entertainment refreshingly different and unique. You remember the Spelling Bee in November, the Feast of the Nations in January, the Bingo Party in February, and very recently the Kiddy Party. Until a more appropriate title is coined, the
