century golf. Julia is from Columbus, Ohio. Their boys are Camden (age 8) and Joseph (age 7). Julia's son, Roger O'Connor (age 22) is with them during vacations.

CHARLES M. McCORKIE, COLONEL, USAF, 1224A

"Sandy" was born 29 January 1915 in Newton, North Carolina. He graduated from West Point in 1936 and was assigned to Randolph Field, Texas for flying training. After graduating from Kelly Field as a pursuit pilot in 1937, he was ordered to Albrook Field, C.Z., and began the first of several assignments in fighter organizations. Upon the outbreak of war he was Deputy Group Commander of the 54th Fighter Group, which he commanded in the Aleutian campaign in 1942. After this organization returned to the States, he proceeded overseas to the Mediterranean, where he commanded the 31st Fighter Group in 1943 and 1944, during which time he flew 110 missions in Spitfires and P-51s, and was credited with destroying eleven German aircraft in the air.  He returned to the States and became Chief of Staff, First Fighter Command, until the end of the war. He then served for a year with the Flight Test Division at Wright Field, attended the Armed Forces Staff College at Norfolk, and was Chief of Staff of Armed Forces Staff College at Norfolk, and was Chief of Staff of the Newfoundland Base COmmand. He then was ordered to the AWC, where he is scheduled to remain on the staff and faculty. Sandy's hobbies are golf and hunting. His wife, Betty, is from San Antonio, Texas. They have two children, Jan (age 9), and Matt (age 4).

JAMES C. McGEHEE, COLONEL, USAF 1746A

"Doc" was born 30 Oct. 1910 in Birmingham, Ala. He attended Howard College and later Univ. of Ala., graduating with AB degree in 1931. After one and a half years with Pan American Life Ins. Co. he was accepted in Flying Cadet Corps in 1934, graduating from Kelly Field in Feb. 1935. He spent one year with 17th Pursuit Gp, March Fld, and two and one-half years with 3rd Attack Gp. For the next five and one-half years he was assigned to the Training Command as primary and basic instructor, then sq. cmdr; CO of Contract Basic School, and Dir. of Training, Single Engine School. In early 1944, after a short tour with the First Air Force, he went overseas as A-3 of 303rd Fighter Wing. After the 303rd moved to the continent it was combined with 84th Wing to comprise the 29th Tac. He served in the capacity of Plans. From Nov. to end of war, he was group comdr. of the 373rd Fighter Bomber Hp. After VE Day, he was assigned to Air Sec. Theater Board, returning to US in early 1946. After briefing from Intelligence Div. in Washington, he spent the next three years as Asst. Air Attache in Brazil. His proposed assignment is DCS Operations in Hqs, USAF, in the Intelligence Division. His hobbies are golf, hunting, and fishing. His wife, Nettie, is from Birmingham, Alabama.
