Dear Mrs. Benson:

Now that our exhibition of "The Stage" has just closed, I wanted to take this opportunity of thanking you once more for you great generosity in allowing us to exhibit the "French Comedians" by Watteau from the Bache Collection.

Needless to say, this picture was one of the features and high-lights of the exhibition and attracted wide-spread attention and comment. I am sure that you saw some of the reproductions of it in the various newspapers and publications.

I know too that Mrs. Lewisohn and the Public Education Association are extremely grateful to you, and the result is that a very worthy charity has been greatly helped by your cooperation.

As agreed, the painting has been called for by Duveen Bros. and I trust has reached you in good order.

With renewed and hearty thanks,

Believe me to be

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
